GFL – Page 0074
Grouping For Looks is a page-by-page retelling of the Looking For Group saga through the lens of a mirror universe where Cale is a goateed tyrant and Richard is a holy soul trying to set him on a good path.
INT. SHACK IN TOWN BORDERING KETHENECIA – THE PAST – DAY
Tavor stands rigid, eyes blank and aglow, the Archmage’s emeralds embedded in his forehead.
Tavor shakes his head. His pupils return. The elder elf gasps and falls to his knees, the weight of revelation crushing him.
I waited in the blades you carry for three thousand years to repay those responsible. And now that the man who knowingly allowed the devastation and murder of our people -our king, our princess, my father, my sister- is dead, he lives on through me?
Wait, there’s a lot there. And I changed the order, but that’s mostly actual lines from the original LFG page 74.
The king was Tavor’s father? And the princess his sister? I thought he was just a loyal guard. And Tavor was inside Cale’s blades? That’s how he ended up in ancient Kethenecia? How did I miss that? Dang, I’ve read these early pages a dozen times and I never absorbed what Tavor says here.
And what, now I’m supposed to finish this script while this revelation swarms through my thoughts? Sorry, that’s not happening.
Richard rejoins the group, there’s a joke about how bad he feels for accidentally wiping out that family line, and then we’re ready to head to the catacombs.
