Grouping For Looks is a page-by-page retelling of the Looking For Group saga through the lens of a mirror universe where Cale is a goateed tyrant and Richard is a holy soul trying to set him on a good path.

EXT. FOREST – DAY

Blasts of fiery dragon breath pelt the group as they fall back towards the mountain. Cale weaves between his associates even though the terrain provides perfectly good cover. Krunch, who you remember is knee high to a Gid, sits on Benny’s shoulder pad. The half-breed thrusts the butt of her staff into the ground with every step, creating a protective barrier each time.

Richard, whose focus has been keeping the dragons away from his allies, smoulders as he struggles to keep up.

BENNY
Redeemer, protect our rear as we make our retreat.

RICHARD
Understood.

Invigorated by the confirmation that his friends need his help, Richard stands. The air beneath him crystalizes. Frost flecked air swirls around Richard’s cold, lifeless feet. As the gale picks up strength, Richard rises into the air. An arc of ice sweeps beneath him, taking shape. Jagged edges smooth into round muscles. A watery mane flows off a glassy muzzle. The tail of the arch splits into two hoofed haunches, as two forelegs reach into the air and slam into the ground.

The confused dragon riders look from one to another. Plumes of steam blow out with each breath.

Peddles start to tremble. Fauna wilts. Frost pools on the ground.

Richard rears back on his ice horse. A frozen tidal wave bursts up, reaching the sky and scratching the clouds. Dragons scatter, desperately popping off fire balls that penetrated the wall of ice but do nothing to save them from being clawed out of the air and swept away.

Richard nuzzles his ice pony’s muzzle, then turns to face his allies.

His absent allies.

He catches a glimpse of Benny, Cale, and Sooba watching Krunch disappearing into a tiny hole in a distance mountain.

RICHARD
All right then. Into the unknown.
