Grouping For Looks is a page-by-page retelling of the Looking For Group saga through the lens of a mirror universe where Cale is a goateed tyrant and Richard is a holy soul trying to set him on a good path.

INT. TAVERN – DAY

Surrounded by mercenaries who in no way resemble soldiers in a xenophobic human army, Cale toys with one of the red orbs on his gloves.

AELLOON
You are surrounded!

CALE
Maybe. But I am not alone.
Sooba, I choose you!

Cale jerks the red ball off (*cough*), whipping it at the ground. Before impact, it opens with a burst of blue smoke and lightning, revealing a blue panther, muzzled and shackled with magical energy. This is Sooba.  

She snarls at her targets. Her sneer turns to tears as barbs sprout from the chains. Sooba balls up at Cale’s feet as he toys with the red orb on the other glove.

CALE
Just remember who is your master.

SOOBA
*whimper*

The mercs frown sympathetically at the beast.

CALE
 Attack!

The mercs barely have time to react when Sooba pounces on them, turning their frowns upside. As in she claws their mouths off and tosses them end over end across the room.

Richard watches the scene unfold, frustrated and baffled. An indifferent Benny leans over the bar next to him.

RICHARD
That was almost irredeemable enough to make me question helping him.
Almost.

Richard skulks up to Cale, who is distracted by Sooba’s carnage. When Cale is particularly engrossed by the violence, Richard swipes the orb from Cale, crushing it. Sooba stands dumbfound as the chains and muscle shatter.

RICHARD
That finishes that.

With a roar, Sooba tackles an astonished Richard. As the panther mauls him, Richard looks up at Cale’s smug face.

RICHARD
Alright then.
