Me Pirate
I might be crazy late to this party, but I’ve recently discovered and gone through two seasons of Black Sails, a pirate drama set in the 18th century airing on Starz.
I actually gave this show a chance a couple of years ago when it debuted, and somehow, it didn’t hold my attention longer than a couple of episodes. This time around though, spurred by learning that Ray Stevenson joined the cast in Season 3, I pushed myself to stick with it.
I’m pretty happy I did.
For a show about pirates, it would be easy to ignore the politics, personal ambitions and social issues plaguing us then as now; and focus solely on cannons and sword fights. Yet Black Sails does the exact opposite here and spends a considerable amount of time on land.
Writing is solid, acting is superd and the surprising twists are actually surprising.
It is definitely worth your time, and as I dive into season 3, I’d recommend you give it a go.
